\u00a0<\/p>

H.E. Ms. Maimounata Ouattara was born on February 19, 1972 in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. She holds a Master Degree (MPhil) in History from the University of Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso; a Postgraduate Certificate in International Relations from the Institute of International Relations of Cameroon (IRIC) in Yaound\u00e9, Cameroon; and a Postgraduate Certificate of Specialization in Multilateral Diplomacy from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) in Geneva, Switzerland.<\/p>

She joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and of Burkinab\u00e8 from Abroad in 2000 as a Counselor of Foreign Affairs. After holding various positions of responsibility within the Ministry, she served as First Counsellor and Acting Economic Counsellor at the Embassy of Burkina Faso in Washington, DC in the United States of America, from September 2011 to August 2013 and as Second Counsellor from November 2008 to September 2011.<\/p>

Back to Burkina Faso, she served as Advisor and Director for Parliamentary Diplomacy to the Speaker of the National Assembly from August 2013 to May 2014.<\/p>

From May 2014 to November 2021, Ambassador Ouattara served as Principal Policy Officer within the Cabinet of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, in Addis Ababa, in Ethiopia, focusing on the African Union strategic partnerships and resource mobilization.<\/p>

In October 2021, she has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of Burkina Faso to the Federal Republic of Austria and the International Organizations based in Vienna.Ambassador Ouattara is fluent in French, English, Jula and Vyemon.<\/p>
